The History of the FM Insurance Awards
Established in the Golden Era of the '90s by Filippos Morakis
The Insurance Awards were honored by the majority of insurance companies and executives in our market and were recognized as the only institution that publicly promoted the value of Insurance Intermediation and the work performed by Insurance Intermediaries, beyond the public awards given by companies and the organizations that represent them.
The Beginning
The story of the awards began in 1992 when, during one of his seminars, Filippos Morakis had the idea to invite two insurers to the panel: a Branch Director and an Insurance Consultant. He asked them to exchange roles and engage in a dialogue defending their new positions.
This "experiment" proved to be very productive and successful, leading to its repetition in subsequent years with a prize — a trip to London for whoever won "on points."
A Unique Meeting Ground
It was one of the few occasions where insurers and company managers from the industry would meet in a common, neutral space to exchange views, watch internationally renowned insurers, and receive training from Filippos Morakis.
The First Official Awards
This realization, combined with the highly successful American-inspired "game," were the stimuli that led Filippos Morakis, after three years, to organize the first awards for the Top 10 Branch Directors in the country within the framework of the 6th International Seminar for Branch Directors of the Morax schools.
It was one of the first times that Filippos Morakis awarded insurers for their portfolio and new production, while also hosting them on a panel aimed at discussing the problems and opportunities of the market.
A Lasting Legacy
Today, the FM Insurance Awards continue to honor the vision of Filippos Morakis, recognizing excellence in insurance intermediation and celebrating professionals who demonstrate outstanding performance, innovation, and commitment to the industry.
